Residential AC rental questions

Do I need an electrician or special outlet installed?

No. Our units run on standard 110V / 15-amp household circuits — the same outlets you use for appliances and lamps. As long as the outlet is on a circuit that isn't already maxed out (ideally a dedicated circuit, but not required), we're good to go. No electrical work needed before we arrive.

How does the hot air exhaust work in a home?

Portable AC units work by pulling warm air from the room, cooling it, and exhausting the heat outside through a flexible duct hose. We typically route this hose through a window using an included window kit that seals the gap. If you don't have a suitable window near where you want the unit, we'll assess alternatives when we arrive.

Can it cool my whole house or just one room?

One unit works best when focused on a single room or open-plan area up to about 700 square feet. For a typical bedroom or living room, it's very effective. Trying to cool an entire open house with one unit is less practical. Many homeowners rent one unit for the bedroom to ensure good sleep, and optionally a second for the main living area. We'll help you figure out what makes sense for your layout.

How quickly can you deliver to my home?

Same-day delivery is available for most locations in our service area when you contact us in the morning. If your HVAC went down overnight or you're dealing with dangerous heat, call us directly at (205) 813-8170 and we'll prioritize getting something to you as fast as we can.

What if my HVAC repair takes longer than expected?

Not a problem. Just let us know you need to extend the rental and we'll update the duration. We don't penalize you for repairs that run long — Alabama summer HVAC repairs almost always take longer than anyone expects. We're flexible.

Is it safe to run overnight while sleeping?

Yes. Our units are designed for continuous operation and include safety features standard on all commercial-grade equipment. Many of our residential customers run the unit through the night. We recommend closing interior doors to the room being cooled to maximize comfort and efficiency while you sleep.

How loud is the unit in a bedroom?

Approximately 56 dB — similar to a standard window AC unit or a box fan on medium. Most people find it easy to sleep through. If you're a very light sleeper, placing the unit farther from the bed and using the unit's fan-only mode once the room reaches temperature can help reduce noise at night.
